Wilco

One of America’s most versatile bands, Wilco are one of those acts that have managed to defy just about every single expectation put upon them, while still remaining totally relevant and fresh in the eyes of music lovers all over the world. For example, their latest album, last years The Whole Love, kicks off with an eight minute piano based, borderline unclassifiable masterpiece called Art Of Almost. It’s another left turn for a band that has made a career out of them. The album itself garnered Jeff Tweedy and company some of the best reviews of their career – which is saying a lot when you consider said career features records like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (and album whose infamously difficult birth was documented in the feature documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart), Grammy winning A Ghost Is Born and the backs to the wall classic Sky Blue Sky. Having settled in their lineup after years of tumult, the Wilco we see in 2012 sees some of the world’s finest musicians interpreting the quietly heartbreaking songs of Jeff Tweedy. Guitarist Nels Cline has his own bourgeoning fan club and drummer Glenn Kotche is renowned the world over as one of the finest percussionists operating today. It all ads up to the complete Wilco experience – something that you won’t soon forget.
